Q: How does this connect to the MiniFreak?

A: Unlike the MicroFreak mic, the MiniFreak version comes with a weighted stand/base. You plug the mic into the base and then connect the base to the Audio In (1/4" TRS) jack on the back of your MiniFreak using a standard patch cable.

Q: Why does it have its own stand?

A: Arturia designed the MiniFreak mic to be independent of the keyboard to prevent "key-thumping" and vibrations from being picked up by the microphone while you are playing. This ensures a much cleaner vocoder signal.

Q: Can I still use my headphones with the mic plugged in?

A: Yes. The base of the gooseneck microphone features a pass-through headphone jack. You can plug your headphones directly into the mic base to monitor your performance without needing extra splitters.

Q: Does this work with the original MiniFreak (not the Vocoder Edition)?

A: Yes! As long as you have updated your MiniFreak to Firmware 4.0 (or later), you can use this microphone with any original MiniFreak to unlock the Vocoder engines.

Q: How do I turn the Vocoder on?

A: The Vocoder on the MiniFreak is an Effect. Go to any of the 3 FX slots and select "Vocoder Ext In." You’ll then need to adjust the "Input Gain" in the Utility > Audio menu to suit your voice.+1

Q: Can I use this mic with my MicroFreak?

A: No, this specific model is not designed for the MicroFreak. The MicroFreak uses a TRRS 3.5mm connection, while this MiniFreak version is optimized for the 1/4" Audio In jack and standalone base setup.
