One button, 4 billion ideas.
RND synth is a collaboration between cyma forma and french artist Bambounou, built around a single idea: stop playing, start listening.
Each musical idea is made of up to four instruments that can live together. Each one draws from one of eight synthesis engines and runs its own random musical sequence.
Every time the button is pressed, all of the many parameters across all features are set to random values, giving birth to a synthesized idea that only exists until the next press of the button. Not presets, not samples, but an infinite source of sounds.

Trade control for inspiration
Beneath its minimalist, pocket-sized exterior rests an absolute beast of a multi-timbral digital audio core. Every time the button is struck, the RND randomly coordinates up to four simultaneous instruments per patch, assigning each one to its own independent sound-design loop, drone, or generative Euclidean sequence. The internal algorithms draw on eight separate, high-resolution synthesis topologies—including Subtractive, FM, Acid, Noise, Speech, Karplus-Strong, Supersaw, and Additive models—tuning them seamlessly across 20 onboard musical scales to ensure every single randomized seed remains fiercely cohesive, inspiring, and ready to record.

Blip Expert Take
The RND Synth is the ultimate antidote to staring blankly at an empty DAW timeline. It behaves like "doom scrolling" for modular-grade sounds and rhythmic motifs. Because it completely lacks an internal preset memory bank, it forces you into a high-focus sampling workflow—you either capture the lightning in a bottle on your recorder right then, or let it slip away forever.
While the hardware chassis is beautifully minimal, its studio integration is an absolute masterclass in connectivity. The multi-channel USB-C audio stream splits all 4 generated layers completely separate into your computer before they hit the master reverb block. If it rolls a patch where track 1 is a heavy acid bassline and track 2 is an organic physical-modeling percussion pulse, you can track them onto separate channels in your DAW at the same time. Furthermore, its 9 distinct MIDI modes allow you to completely override the automated sequences using an external keyboard, turning this unpredictable generator into a playable, highly expressive multi-timbral desktop synthesizer voice.
Who Is This For?
Hardware Technologists & Producers: Electronic artists who want an instant, endlessly updating source of syncopated rhythms, unique timbres, and complex loops to lock to their studio master clock.
Sampling & Sound Design Purists: Musicians looking to break out of predictable workflow loops who require raw, unquantized audio fragments to chop up inside a hardware sampler.
FAQs
FAQs
Q: Is there any way to save a sound preset or sequence that I love inside the RND memory?
A: No, and that is a fundamental, intentional part of the design philosophy. The RND features zero memory storage, zero preset banks, and no save button. Every single patch generated exists purely in the present moment. If you roll an incredible sequence or a beautiful texture, you must record the audio outputs directly into your DAW or a sampler right then and there. The moment you press that big black button again, the previous sound is cleared from the micro-processors forever to make room for something completely new.
Q: Can I play the generated instruments myself using an external MIDI controller keyboard?
A: Yes, the RND features a highly advanced MIDI map spread across 9 distinct operating modes. By connecting a MIDI controller to the input and routing data to channels 2, 3, 4, or 5, you can completely take over track 1, 2, 3, or 4 respectively. The automated random sequence on that specific track will immediately halt, letting you play that sound engine's timbre note-for-note with your own keys, velocity, and pitch-bend parameters while the other 3 tracks continue running their random patterns in the background.
Q: Do I need a special driver to multi-track record the 4 separate layers into my Mac or PC computer?
A: No extra software is required. The RND is fully class-compliant. When you hook up the device to your computer using a standard USB-C cable, your operating system will automatically read it as an audio interface with 4 separate input streaming lines. Simply assign those inputs to 4 individual tracks inside your choice DAW (like Ableton, Logic, or Reaper) to multitrack print the pre-reverb instruments completely separate from one another.
