Animal Factory Tannhäuser Gates is a boutique 4-channel discrete VCA, stereo mixer, and performance routing hub inspired by the legendary Buchla 110 Voltage Controlled Gate. Featuring four warm discrete VCAs with rich overdrive characteristics, per-channel mute switches, stereo panning, single-knob tilt EQs, and a dedicated stereo send/return loop, it forms the command center of any modular performance rig.

Each channel can function independently as an isolated mono VCA or sum directly into the stereo master output bus. The CV inputs feature attenuverters that allow effortless sidechain ducking or envelope expansion, while normalising to a Master CV jack for simultaneous 4-voice modulation.

Engineered for modular growth, Tannhäuser Gates features rear expansion headers allowing you to chain up to four modules together, creating a comprehensive 16-channel performance mixer system summed to a single stereo output.

Q: Can I use Tannhäuser Gates for sidechain ducking?
A: Yes! Because the channel CV inputs feature attenuverters, sending a positive envelope to an inverted CV channel automatically ducks the audio signal whenever the kick drum hits.

Q: How does chaining multiple modules work?
A: The rear PCB includes expansion headers. Simply connect additional Tannhäuser Gates modules via flat ribbon cables to sum up to 16 channels cleanly into a single stereo output without patching cords on the front panel.
