POLYVOX PF3 MK2 double-stereo filter utilizes the classic Soviet filter chip for a unique and iconic filter tone. This filter will make your sound dirty and angry. With the resonance turned up, you won't lose bass frequencies. Two independent 12dB multi-mode filters that can be controlled by a single cutoff knob. Turning the filter into a 24dB filter, when connected in series. When connected in stereo, you can achieve interesting effects by using different modes to each channel.
A noise generator is on board pre-filter and can be used separately as a source of white and pink noise. There are two types of noise - white and pink. You can choose the type of noise via WHITE/PINK switch. Adjust the volume and balance of the noise using the LEVEL and BALANCE pots in the noise section. Volume as well as clean and processed signal balance per channel.
Infuse your mixes, synthesizers, and drum loops with the raw, unmistakable character of classic Soviet hardware. The ELTA Music POLIVOX PF3 (MK2) is a boutique, dual-stereo analog desktop filter processing unit built entirely around the iconic original Russian Polivoks filter integrated circuit (IC) chip. Renowned worldwide for its untamed distortion, screaming resonance, and unpredictable sonic bite, the PF3 repackages this legendary circuitry into a highly flexible, modern studio tool.
The core of the PF3 features two completely independent 12dB/octave multi-mode filters. Each channel can be isolated to process individual sound sources, chained sequentially in a serial path for extreme tone sculpting, or mapped via front-panel "LINK" switches to run as a perfectly matched stereo processing pair controlled via a single central cutoff dial. Every filter stage provides four switchable curves: Low-pass, Band-pass, High-pass, and a distinct Notch mode.
For unparalleled sound design flexibility, the PF3 integrates a dedicated pre-filter Noise Generator capable of blending white or pink noise directly into your audio signal—ideal for building synthesized percussion or synthetic textures out of static sound sources. Complete with a unique "Hard / Soft" circuit switch that instantly toggles between aggressive, overdriven Polivoks chaos and the smoother, more musical slope of vintage Maestro synths, the PF3 is a tactile, CV-friendly desktop powerhouse for studio tracking and live performance alike.
FAQs
FAQs
Q: Can I use the POLIVOX PF3 as a true stereo filter unit for my master track or subgroups?
A: Yes, absolutely. The PF3 features physical dual-channel audio inputs and outputs. By engaging the top-panel "LINK" switches, the filter cutoff frequencies and incoming Control Voltage (CV) modulations are completely locked together. This allows you to smoothly sweep a full stereo signal using a single central cutoff knob while adjusting volume and dry/wet blend balances for left and right channels independently.
Q: What is the main structural difference between the "Hard" and "Soft" switch settings?
A: This switch alters the fundamental behavior of the analogue filtering circuit. In Hard mode, the unit functions with the classic, raw, and unyielding distortion characteristic of the military-grade Soviet Polivoks synthesizer. Flipping to Soft mode strips the circuit of its aggressive edge, shifting the slope profile slightly to replicate the warm, highly melodic character of the vintage Russian Maestro synthesizer.
Q: How does the built-in noise generator work inside the audio path?
A: The PF3 features an onboard analog noise generator with selectable white and pink noise textures. It sits completely pre-filter, meaning you can use the level controls to feed raw noise into the processing path alongside an instrument or on its own. When the filter resonance goes into self-oscillation, this noise can be used to dynamically synthesize hats, claps, snares, wind drops, or industrial textures from scratch.
Q: Is the PF3 compatible with Eurorack modular signals and control voltages?
A: Yes, the PF3 is highly patchable. It features 3.5mm mini-jack CV modulation inputs for both Filter 1 and Filter 2. The CV inputs handle a wide standard tolerance layout, accepting control signals ranging from -5V to +5V or unipolar shapes from 0V to +10V, allowing external LFOs, envelopes, or sequencers to modulate the cutoff points automatically.
