Neuzeit Instruments Drop | The Brain of Your Live Rig
Share
The Neuzeit Instruments Drop is a formidably powerful, snapshot-based MIDI and CV control center designed to act as the "brain" of a live hardware or hybrid setup. Created by a team previously known for experimental Eurorack modules, Drop is their first standalone piece of hardware, built to solve the frantic "too many knobs, too few hands" problem that plagues live electronic performance.
At the heart of the Drop is its advanced snapshot management system. Instead of manually tweaking ten different machines during a transition, you can store the state of every connected controller—including fader positions, encoder values, and button states—into a snapshot.
Massive Storage: It holds 20 banks of 20 snapshots, giving you 400 total states to recall instantly.
Jump Mode: Recalls a snapshot immediately or over a user-defined fade time, allowing for smooth, automated transitions.
Drop Mode: This is the namesake feature. Using the integrated master clock, you can schedule a snapshot to trigger exactly at the end of a cycle (between 1 and 32 bars). This allows you to build tension with manual tweaks and then "drop" back to a solid state perfectly in sync with the beat.
Comprehensive Control Surface
The hardware is designed for deep tactile interaction, featuring a rugged metal chassis and metal-shaft encoders built for the road.
32 RGB-Lit Encoders: High-resolution, pushable encoders with LED rings for clear visual feedback.
8 Faders & 8 Mutes: Dedicated physical controls for volume and performance toggles.
Dual Layers (A/B): A toggle system effectively doubles your physical controls, giving you access to two complete sets of mappings.
Macro Mapping: A single knob can be mapped to up to eight MIDI targets simultaneously, with individual response curves for each destination.
It also includes a MIDI merge function, allowing you to integrate external sequencers or keyboards and distribute their signals across your entire rig without bottlenecks.
Professional DAW Integration
While it shines as a standalone hub, Drop is fully "DAW-aware." It features dedicated scripts for Ableton Live and Bitwig, allowing the 4x5 button grid to act as a clip launcher with full RGB feedback.
